Volunteer

volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of our organization.

We are always looking for caring, compassionate and dedicated volunteers
who share our passion for caring for the welfare of rescued cats that come into our care.

There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available with Home at Last Rescue.
If you want to volunteer, please complete an application today!

FOSTER

Home at Last Rescue places our cats in a network of loving foster homes, while they await their adoption or are ready to go to our Adoption Centre.

We are always in need of foster homes to care for cats, mothers and babies, orphaned kittens, etc. As a foster, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of these cats in your own home. You will be asked to provide a warm, safe, loving environment (spare room, bedroom, bathroom, other small space) in which to socialize and prepare these cats and kittens for their forever homes.

Please note that, for health reasons, we do not mix cats from other rescues. We will consider your application if you are not currently fostering for another rescue.

For more information, read our blog post about fostering.

MORE WAYS TO HELP

IN-STORE VOLUNTEER

In-store volunteers must be able to commit to a regularly scheduled shift (or shifts!) per week at our Adoption Centre in PetSmart Etobicoke. At the store, you will be responsible for cleaning the cat condos, feeding the cats, talking with potential adopters, but most importantly – playing with and socializing the cats and kittens! Students under the age of 18 may volunteer for volunteer hours, but must have an adult present.

DRIVER

Can’t commit to foster or an in-store shift? How about driving? We are always in need of drivers to help transport cats to and from vet appointments, delivering food and litter to foster homes and various other deliveries.

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising is extremely critical for our organization. We do not receive any government funding and our adoption fees barely cover our basic vetting. We are always looking for creative ways to raise funds to help pay for our vet bills. Do you have experience with fundraising? Do you have some creative ways to help us raise money? We would love to hear from you!

SEWING

Are you crafty? Can you sew? We are looking for volunteers to sew blankets for our cat condos, as well as our famous catnip kickers! Can you knit or crochet? We need someone to make catnip mice that we place in various locations for sale and donations.

OTHER

We can always use volunteers to help with photography at events, social media/website, writing – what are you good at? Let us know!

DONATE

Can’t help with any of the above, but still want to help? Donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated!
